The second edition of the “Romanian Diaspora’s Contribution to Research and Higher Education” Conference (the economic section) took place at the National Bank of Romania, in cooperation with the Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies, on 23 September 2010.

      The two hotly debated topics, namely: “Euro Adoption by Romania in 2015: Pros & Cons” and “Economic Growth versus Fiscal Discipline” presented during the conference provided a good opportunity for the Diaspora’s representatives (Professor Florin Aftalion, Bogdan Cãlinescu, Tony Iordache, Flaviu Mihãescu, Geomina Þurlea) and Romanian economists (Ionuþ Dumitru, Laurian Lungu,  Rozália Pál, Rãzvan Stanca, Liviu Voinea) to exchange ideas.

      This book is a selection of the papers submitted to the conference, considering that professional duties prevented some of the Diaspora’s speakers from drafting research papers based on their presentations. Despite its small size, the book brings value added, testifying to the synchronicity of the economic thinking in Romania and elsewhere.
